New Employee Alert - Owen Tanner

Everyone, please welcome Owen Tanner, our newest employee - he will be working as the Energy Manager! See what he has to say below:

"Greetings, I am Owen Tanner, the new Energy Manager at the Environment Office as of May 2024.  My role involves supporting the SON Joint Council by managing recommendations to facilitate the development of mandates, directions, and strategies for engaging with proponents in the Energy Industry within SON traditional territories.

I have a background in chemistry and food science, graduating from Fanshawe College with a Laboratory Chemistry diploma in 1991. In 1992, I entered the nuclear industry, initially specializing in operations chemistry before shifting to roles centered on corrective action and organizational effectiveness, concluding my tenure with Bruce Power in 2020.

I am a proud member of the Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation.  I have a passion for all creatures and plants within the traditional territories, treasuring many memories of learning and discovery of indigenous species.  I look forward to my new role in supporting the protection of SON rights and interests."
