Event Planner

Priority is given to qualified Saugeen Ojibway Nation members

The Event Planner works with the Communications team to deliver events that further the Environment Office’s goals across all files.

Through effective planning, innovation and consultation; captures and executes SON’s visions & goals of a successful event. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this role is responsible for all aspects of event planning and management including securing people/speakers, resources and venues, marketing initiatives, organizing, registration, managing budgets, volunteers, people, schedules, equipment, travel as well as actual hands-on management of events. 

This is a position for someone who has:

  • Marketing or Event Planning Diploma/Degree preferred
  • Special event, marketing or project management experience
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including presentation skills
  • Detail  oriented
  • Resourceful problem solver
  • Good negotiation skills, with a mathematical aptitude
  • Creative and innovative
  • Outgoing team player
  • In-depth understanding of SON culture, interests, goals & rights
  • Professional attitude
  • Comprehensive computer skills including Google Suite, Social Media and marketing software
  • Valid Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle
